We are saints who sin.

We are saints who sin.

Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?  Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.
But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you.

So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God.
— Romans 7:24-25, 8:9, 7:4

Think it through

  1. We are no longer slaves to sin. How is this possible?
  2. Where do we get the power to not be controlled by sin?
  3. What kind of harvest does God expect from our lives?

Lord God, Help me to see myself as you do, a saint united to Christ. I have a holy nature that goes beyond the law of sin and death and breathes with new life from your Spirit every day. You are constantly helping me and cleansing me from every sin. Help me to see others through your eyes of love and show forth your grace so that I can be a part of your harvest of good deeds.
